INTRODUCTION
Maritime industry contributes immensely to a country’s economy; conversely, it comes with both environmental and human health hazards, particularly from oxides emitted into the atmosphere from ships, when not properly regulated. The oxides emitted from fossil fuel combustion from ships include sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), toxic compounds of hydrocarbon, and nitrogen oxides etc. which all have damaging effect on the environment and human health.
